Welcome to our LAS VIRGENCITAS website! Children in Mexico call Our Lady, LA VIRGENCITA. It is a term of endearment meaning “The Little Virgin.” On this website children will enjoy learning about Our Lady by making their own crafts, games and toys. They will learn about many VIRGENCITAS, not only the best known ones, such as Our Lady of Lourdes and Our Lady of Fatima, but lesser known ones as well, such as Our Lady of Charity in Cuba and Our Lady of LaSalette in France. ALL OF THE VIRGENCITAS TO APPEAR ON THIS WEBSITE HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHURCH.
A special feature of LAS VIRGENCITAS will be the  Virgencitas of Mexico; many of these shrines have outstanding miracles associated with them: Our Lady of San Juan de Los Lagos, for example, is the second most visited shrine in Mexico after the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. St. Pope John Paul ll visited the shrine in 1990; while there he celebrated Mass for SIX MILLION people! Many years earlier, a young girl, a circus performer, was raised from the dead when a statue of Our Lady was placed on her chest.Over the years I have visited many of these Mexican shrines and have written extensively about them in the Travel pages of the NATIONAL CATHOLIC REGISTER. Please see our companion website, MADONNAS OF MEXICO.COM, to learn more about these fascinating shrines.
This website is devoted to Our Lady. The aim of this website? That—through lots of fun activities— your child will have a wonderful time drawing closer and closer to her!
